BACK to FAQUSPTO Forward Citation Search- Referenced By

This feature searches for all the Forward Citations for any given Patent at the USPTO.

TEXT TUTORIAL

 There are two ways to get the References:

• METHOD 1 : PATENT SELECTED FROM ANOTHER SCREEN
  You can search for all the References that Cites any given Patent. by selecting the patent from the Search results of that screen.
  For Example, from the Search Screen, we select Patent 4391727.
  
  

• METHOD 2 : ENTER A NEW PATENT TO FIND REFERENCES CITING ANY PATENT
  This option will let you enter a Patent and search for all the References that Cites it.
  Check the box to Enter Patent and find who Cited it.
  
  Enter the Patent Number and Select Get Cited..





• All the references Cited by thet Patent( 4391727 in this case) will be displayed.
  

• From here, you can go further and get References Cited by any one of the displayed results by selecting Forward Citations from the Advanced Features.
  
  You can repeat the process for any patent in the list.
   

• Select this option to get back to the original patent and all the references citing it.
